The U.S. Department of Defense has substantially increased its acquisition and use of AI Strategies. A recent Washington report says that U.S. Government spending on AI has "exploded" in the past year and that the increase was almost entirely driven by DOD as it races against China for new technology superiority.
AI-Enabled Systems can help accelerate the speed of a Commander's decisions and improve the quality and accuracy of those decisions, which can be "decisive in deterring a fight and winning a fight," stated Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks as she released the Pentagon's "2023 Data, Analytics & Artificial Intelligence Adoption Strategy" on November 2, 2023.
